Help & support

Answers to the common questions — and a real person to email when you need one. If you're already signed in, the help assistant in the app can answer most of this too.

Trouble signing in?

Forgot your password

Use reset your password. We'll email you a link — it works once and expires in an hour.

You signed up with Microsoft or Google

Then you don't have a Seshat password. Use the Continue with Microsoft or Continue with Google button on the sign-in page.

You're asked for a verification code

That's two-step sign-in. Depending on how you set it up, the code comes from your authenticator app or is emailed to you. Codes expire, so request a fresh one if it's been a while.

Still locked out

Email [email protected] from the address on the account and we'll help you get back in. Your vault is never deleted because you can't sign in.

Common questions

What does Seshat actually do?

It copies every message and attachment out of your mailbox into encrypted storage, organized by year and month and fully searchable. Think of it as a permanent, searchable archive of your email that you control.

Will a transfer delete email from my inbox?

No. A transfer only ever copies — your mail stays exactly where it is.

Clearing already-archived mail out of your original inbox is a separate, deliberate step you request, and we only do it after verifying the vault copy is complete. It's irreversible, so we ask you to confirm it explicitly.

Which mailboxes can I connect?

Outlook / Microsoft 365, Gmail, and any standard IMAP host (Yahoo, iCloud, Fastmail, AOL, and most others). IMAP accounts connect with an app password rather than your normal password.

How do I get my email back out?

Two ways, both self-serve. You can download your whole vault as a .zip of standard .eml files (organized by year and month) that open in Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or any mail app — or export a single year.

For IMAP mailboxes you can also restore mail back into the mailbox, into a folder called "Seshat Restored". Your vault copy stays untouched either way.

How long do you keep my email?

By default we protect your archive for 7 years and we do not auto-delete after that — it's kept until you remove it yourself. Firm plans can set a custom window and optionally turn on automatic deletion.

What does it cost?

Starter $19/mo — 1 mailbox, 100 GB. Business $49/mo — up to 5 mailboxes, 500 GB. Firm $149/mo — up to 25 mailboxes, 2 TB.

Yearly billing gets you 2 months free. Extra mailboxes are $9/mo (or $90/yr) each, and storage beyond your plan is $0.15/GB/month. Full details on the pricing page.

How do I cancel?

Turn off auto-renew any time from your Billing page — your vault stays active through the end of the period you've paid for. Cancelling stops future renewals; it doesn't refund a term already under way.

If you want the account and everything in it gone, you can close your account from the Account page. That starts a 30-day window to export your archive, after which it's permanently deleted. You can cancel the closure any time during those 30 days.

Can you read my email?

We decrypt your mail only to do the things you ask for — showing it, searching it, letting you download it. We don't read it for any other purpose, don't profile you, don't sell or share it, and never use it to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy and Security page.

Still need a hand?

Email us and a human will get back to you. If it's about a specific mailbox or transfer, mention which one and roughly when it happened — it helps us find it quickly.
